Official Announcement of the Winners
The Selection Committee of the Francesca Cassinelli Award 2025 convened in two telematic meetings held on February 5 and February 23, 2026. During the meetings, the Committee carried out a comprehensive and collegial comparative evaluation of the candidates’ scientific achievements. Particular attention was given to the originality, scientific quality, and international impact of the submitted publications, as well as to the candidates’ overall contribution to advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of Multiple Myeloma. The comparative assessment took into account also bibliometric indicators and the scientific prestige of the journals where the studies were published.
Following this careful and in-depth evaluation process, the Committee unanimously identified the recipients of the Francesca Cassinelli Award 2025 as follows.
The Junior Researcher Award is assigned to:
Mattia D’Agostino, MD – University of Turin, Italy
Following the approval of the Award sponsors, two full Senior Researcher Awards are assigned ex-aequo to:
Hermann Einsele, MD – University Hospital Würzburg, Germany
Irene Ghobrial, MD – Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA
The Committee is pleased to acknowledge the outstanding scientific contributions of the awardees and their significant impact on advancing research and clinical knowledge in the field of Multiple Myeloma. Recognizing such distinguished contributions upholds the purpose of the Award and honors the memory of Francesca Cassinelli.
